CompTIA Security+ Certification SY0-501 provides the basic knowledge needed to plan, implement, and maintain information security in a vendor-neutral format. This includes risk management, host and network security, authentication and access control systems, cryptography, and organizational security. This course maps to the CompTIA Security+ certification exam. Objective coverage is marked throughout the course.

Students will benefit most from this course if they intend to take a CompTIA Security+ SY0-501 exam.

This course assumes basic knowledge of using and maintaining individual workstations. Knowledge equivalent to the CompTIA A+ certification is helpful but not necessary.

 

Who Should Attend

This course is targeted toward the information technology (IT) professional who has networking and administrative skills in Windows®-based Transmission Control. Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) networks; familiarity with other operating systems, such as Mac OS X®, Unix, or Linux; and who wants to further a career in IT by acquiring foundational knowledge of security topics; prepare for the CompTIA Security+ certification examination; or use Security+ as the foundation for advanced security certifications or career roles.
