The training will provide the students with the knowledge to install, configure and troubleshoot the SPARC SuperCluster(SSC). The content will also provide information on how to perform maintenance and administrative activities on the SSC which includes Field Replaceable Unit(FRU) replacement and system upgrade procedures.

  • Point out the key components of the SPARC SuperCluster
  • Explain the key functions of the SPARC SuperCluster
  • Install the SPARC SuperCluster at a customer site
  • Configure SPARC SuperCluster for operation according to the chosen configuration
  • Perform maintenance and troubleshooting procedures on the SPARC SuperCluster

Course Content

List the main components that compose the SPARC SuperCluster

Verify the internal cabling of the SPARC SuperCluster and describe the SPARC Super Cluster networks

Verify the corresponding power to the SPARC SuperCluster

Power Up and verify proper operation

Configure the Cisco ethernet switch and cable the SPARC SuperCluster into a customer's environment

Configure PDUs to the customer management network

Configure the Exadata storage servers

Configure the compute nodes

Configure the initial storage configuration including firmware (7320 Storage appliance)

Configure the initial software configuration

Install and configure LDOMs

Configure the Infiniband fabric

Configure the rack to use ASR

Install and configure Oracle Solaris Cluster (optional for customer)

Verify the initial SPARC SuperCluster configuration

Perform designated administration tasks

Perform firmware and software update tasks

Prepare the system for Field Replaceable Unit (FRU) replacement tasks
